and I'm your very proud Principal
it is my pleasure and my honor to welcome you
to our open house for the 2020-2021 school year
while we regret that we cannot personally welcome you onto our beautiful campus
we are so excited to have the opportunity to virtually share with you
vital information regarding your  child's education
we are so proud of Cypress Bay's ranking in the top 5% of best High Schools in the country
according to US News and World report now this does not happen easily
it is due to the hard work and collaboration of all of our teachers, students, parents and staff
and our entire community during these unprecedented times
our teachers and staff have been dedicated to ensuring that your students receive
the best possible instruction and online experience that we can provide.
we have been working tirelessly to improve the online learning experience
as we are incorporating live instruction with engaging curriculum our teachers will be
taking attendance every day, every period including study hall.
so it is extremely important that students stay connected, and are present, and engaged
so that when we return to campus it will be a seamless and successful transition.
during tonight's presentation you will have the opportunity to meet your child's teacher
and hear about the instruction, content and  expectations in each of their courses.
we will also be providing information regarding activities, clubs, and an update on athletics.
as well as a virtual tour of our campus we are extremely proud of all that we have accomplished
at Cypress Bay and we know that although these times have been challenging
together we can make this a great year so lets remember to be patient, flexible
kind and compassionate with one another and lets always stay focused to
do better and be better have a wonderful evening
Thank you, Mrs. Fried This year, E learning will
include live virtual instruction via teams to allow students to receive
real time guidance and feedback. This synchronous method of
instruction will follow the traditional A and B schedule simulating
being on campus. The school day begins at 8:30 a.m. For
periods one and five, 10:05 to 11:35
am for periods two and 6 11:35 to 12:05
PM for lunch 12:05 PM to 1:35
PM for periods three and seven and 1:40 p.m. To 3:10
10 pm for periods 4 and 8. What that means
for students is more support and opportunities to interact with their teachers and
classmates. Attendance will be taken daily in each
period, including personalization as you have experienced
over the first couple of days. The school day begins at 8:30 a.m. and
ends at 3 10 PM The instructional format will vary
by teacher, but instruction will be similar to being physically present
in class utilizing teams. Teachers will differentiate the
instruction, lectures, discussions, projects,
presentations, activities and much more
during this e learning instructional method. Technology is important.
So for convenience, many of our core subject area textbooks can
be found online via canvas to Access Your
textbooks. login to canvas through Clever at SSO.browardschools.com
On the left hand side, Select
Resources click on nine through 12 textbooks and
select the subject you need a textbook for. Be sure to re
familiarize yourself with canvas teams, Naviance
nearpod and all other digital platforms, as teachers will use these to
deliver instruction. All the platforms mentioned are located
on each student's clever single sign on Portal, which can be accessed through
sso.browardschools.com. If you need a
computer or need to exchange your computer, please call Cypress Bay to
schedule a drive by pickup or exchange.

Department. My name is Marlene Sanders, and I'm the proud school
counseling director here at the Bay. It's an honor and a
privilege to work with an outstanding faculty as well
as a wonderful guidance department consisting of seven wonderful
counselors, two college and career
advisors and a wonderful
administrative team. Mrs. Bush are college and career
advisor, heads up, are college and career department and
provides many wonderful and valuable programs for
students, families and the community. We hope the
2021 school year will be an exciting year for all of our
students and community, and they will enjoy
learning as well as taking good care of themselves.

College Advisor, I run the College and Career Center here in Cypress Bay,
and it is my privilege to help your students navigate through high
school and explore their postsecondary opportunities. My
advice to you is that you focus on the journey rather than a
destination and enjoy everything here.
Good evening, bay. family. I'm Dr Christina Taylor, a member of the
college and career center team at the College and Career Center. We're here to
assist with everything college and career related to ensure that your
transition from the bay to whatever you choose to pursue after is a
smooth possible. The best piece of advice that I can offer to
students is that the only scholarship you're guaranteed not to receive
is the scholarship that you never applied for. Stop leaving money on the
table. I know the process can be intimidating, but we're here to help.

Hi, everybody. My name's Melissa Boorom. I'm a school counselor here at
Cypress Bay High School. I oversee all of the Cypress Bay
athletes. So while you're home, I would like
for you as my tip to find a space in your
house that you're gonna go to every day and set your desk up just like it's
school. Go there every day. You'll keep all your stuff there and you
will be successful. And my mental health tip for you
is get out, get some vitamin D and move around. Get some
sunshine. I can't wait to see you all, I miss you all
schedule changes will be done virtually. Students
were given the best options of classes based on their choices. Classes
cannot be changed for disliking the course or changing your mind
schedule changes are only approved for the following a course
duplicate, such as two English classes and an incomplete
schedule less than eight classes. The incorrect level, of
course, or dual enrollment. Elective class
changes, teacher requests and any other request will not be approved.
All students must follow the present schedule unless contacted by guidance
counselor and given a new schedule. All schedule change requests will
be based on space available and administrative approval.

Follow the virtual open house schedule that it's located on this open house
page. Students, we wish you a successful start to the
virtual school year but can't wait to see you on campus as soon as possible.
Here's a quick look at what you can expect to see upon your return to
campus. Welcome to Cypress Bay High School, one of the
largest public schools in the state of Florida, with over 4000 students
enrolled at the bay. There is a substantial amount of classrooms divided into three
main buildings. This is the gate, the only point of entry.
Make sure you're wearing your I D or else you can't get in. After entering, you
will see building one on your right. The one hundreds are located on the first floor, where
you will find many of our art classes, as well as the sound of thunder marching band and the
DECA headquarters. In addition to these classes, you can also find the
guidance and administration offices where you can speak with your counselor about
classes, schedules, college applications and many other concerns.
Right around the corner is the student affairs office, where you will go for sign ins and sign outs.
The second floor is where the 200 are located housing our lab science
classes. Walk through the doors and straight across the catwalk and you will find
yourself in Building three. The 400 classrooms are on the second floor, and right
below is the 300 section, which is home to Cypress Bay television.
Right near you is the Media Center or, as we call it, the Wave. The wave is
a great place to go to study and work on projects. At the end of campus, you will
see building eight. This three story building is where you can find many English and
social studies classes. You may also have a class and one of our 53
portable classrooms located behind Building three, hungry for lunch,
head on over to the Bay Cafe, where several delicious and inexpensive dining
options are provided for students. To the right of the cafeteria is the
auditorium. Many events such as lightning Oscars, drama performances
and chorus concerts are hosted here. On the other side of the cafeteria
is the gym home of the Lightning, basketball and volleyball teams.
Right behind building one is the notorious lightning football field. Behind the football
field is the lightning, softball and baseball field heading back over to the middle of
campus. You will find yourself in the courtyard, where you can enjoy your lunch with friends or
hang out before class starts. But be careful with the construction. Being the school's
hot spot. Many club activities are held here, so be on the lookout for some fun.
There is a large amount of student run clubs at the bay, so don't worry. There's something for everyone
